for everyone
2010's definitely our year to join in such wonderful events and form great alliances with organizers (both private and NGOs, local or international) who share in our vision of creating a proactive community and village to raise Filipino children in! We, in behalf of our http://littlerescue.wordpress.com advocacy, are proudly supporting this awesome KCC 2010 event on Feb 3rd! Thanks to Teachers Cherie [http://barefootprint.multiply.com] and Leland for paving the way so Kids Ahoy can take part in bringing happiness to 100 kid-beneficiaries, all disadvantaged youth from Smokey Mountain and Payatas.

Kids Creating Change (KCC) 2010 is a dynamic one-day arts event
aimed at empowering disadvantaged youth to enact positive change in their own communities. This remarkable event will be held on

February 3rd 2010 at La Mesa Ecopark, Quezon City

KCC is the collaborative venture of local & international NGOs focused on development, children’s rights and the arts.

KCC 2010 draws inspiration from the 8 Visions of Hope movement,
which is aimed at exploring art and culture’s role in the achievement of the United Nations Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). The event is supported by AusAID, the Australian Government’s overseas aid program, and by Austraining, a specialist project management and international development organization. Youth from several local areas will be in attendance, including from such communities as Smokey Mountain and Payatas. These are especially vulnerable communities that can truly benefit from support to develop sustainable improvements in their own lives.

One of the highlights of the day will be a ‘Nylon Zoo’, a massive inflatable salmon
which holds 30-40 children and will be a venue for dress-up animal parades and
story time. The day also involves a performance by the Hope Worldwide Puppet Theatre Troupe and a theatre performance by former street children from Bahay Tuluyan Philippines. Other activities include short film screening, face painting and ‘trash to treasure’ recycled craft activities.

By providing a creative and vibrant arts space, performances by
local and international artists, along with innovative workshops and
presentations, the event will inspire young people, enhancing
their understanding of development issues and present practical and imaginative approaches to achieving the MDGs.

Thank you Kids Ahoy for joining in yesterday's Kids Creating Change Festival 2010. Wow, what an amazing day it was for everyone!! Such a creative explosion of fun!

The kids enjoyed the activities immensely and the Nylon Zoo will be an experience they will always remember, I'm sure. What an amazing gift Evelyn Roth has given to the Philippines and Filipino children. Apparently it is over 20 years old and has travelled the world several times. And it will still continue to bring such joy :)

Thank you again for sharing in the day and making the world a brighter place for 127 beautiful children :)

Oh, they are soooo gorgeous! Sayang I never got to see the kids in costume as we were manning Kids Ahoy's Health activity station. Wow, an experience these kids will never forget!

The children drawing the future they hope to see. At the end of the day, the footprints were lined up, leading towards the "Pledge" sign, where children and adults alike pledged to use their talents, skills and creativity to make change in their world.

The pledge sign that approximately 200 people drew their hands on and signed promising to create change in their world. Sayang that CJ wasn't able to sign it - but we know that CJ and the Kids Ahoy kids are definitely changemakers! :)
